JP has put up a nice perception of agile – The destination not the route: A sideways look at agile. He very rightly demonstrates situations when agile is and is not applicable.
There were some recent views on agility, mostly affected by its tooling up or materializing. My thoughts – we need a Gonzo approach to keep it conceptual and give more freedom for implementing it. JP says it right:
Agile is about a mindset; it works best when you have a broad idea of where you want to go, where you need a process that collects and improves your information base, and where you need the freedom and optionality to respond to changes in that information base.
The methodology and tools and techniques and processes are secondary. It’s all in the mind.
