Luke Wroblewski has posted his thoughts on The Tipping Point. It is a nice summary. It made me think about what I had concluded out of applying the Tipping Point on Web. A very strong realisation I had was that whether it is offline or online social networking, the combination of mavens and connectors will always be required. Whether it is blogging or Digg or Netscape or a business networking site like LinkedIn or Ryze, these are the guys over whom usually the battle is for. These guys can bring the tipping point much earlier.
Another aspect is that the Web can be a very good collaboration platform between the mavens and the common man. A common man needs information, information that is neutral and not biased by association to a company or a product or a group. Mavens – the databanks are the perfect guys for that. This is because these Mavens are not part of businesses but users themselves. Whether I am looking for laptops or refrigerators or houses, if I can meet a Maven I will get the right information, and that will be immensely valuable.
