Pulitzer, the elite award, has opened up to admit blogs (via Bloggers Blog). Initially I was thrilled, but as you can see, most of the language is directed towards newspapers and considered in the local journalism context. Scoble says that bloggers will be called journalists as more and more professionals start blogging. I think we specialize a blog when we try to look at it in context of journalism and barrier to adoption gets taller. The incentive with a blog is that it does not have a specialization, it can be about anything you want and you can write anyway you want. I would consider journalism to be more formal than that. One thing I do associate with a blog, more than journalism, is opinion.
