Good List Of Indian Blogs

Sudhanshu Rahejta at Gyaan Sutra has compiled a list of Indian blogs based on Alexa ranking, and this blog is proud to be a part of it. The effort is to build an A-List of Indian bloggers. I do not agree, because I believe:

  • Alexa traffic is not a good metric to measure
  • There is no A-list

I feel that we start stripping blogging of its advantages once we start making classes – it is personal, it is free form, it is opinionated and it is therapeutic. It is too personal to be compared and classified. I do agree that a lot of us out there use it to make money, but not without treating it as a blog first. Of course most of us follow news, while some create news, while some are news themselves. But that is the nature, not a class. I hope this traffic measurement, the earning based on that and the whole classes disappear soon.

Great job at collecting the blogs together Sudhanshu. One suggestion – the rankings ruin the list, drop them. Just the list of blogs is cool enough, an OPML list, which everyone can simply drop in their feed-readers, would be much more useful than the rankings.

I agree with you about the Alexa ranking.

It’s something I’ve been meaning to read up on for a while now, even if it isn’t an accurate reflection of good content.

    Thanks for the post,

    David

Indian Thoughts! was created by a team of Indian’s with the prime objective of sharing thoughts, which occupy the minds of most Indians, who care about the country‚Äôs deteriorating situation. These thoughts embarrass us when we hope for a shining and prospering India. In a country, which boasts of a rich past, and a diverse culture, the daily incidents across the country force us to believe that human values are on the decline. We have learned to blame others for any problem we face or observe, without realizing the fact that it is self-discipline that is lacking. Emphasizing on self-discipline is the only possible remedy for lot of social problems that is indirectly hindering the growth of our country.
