If overnight success means getting popular overnight, neither does it say anything about the effort behind it nor about how long the success will stay. As Matt says, Wordpress is a four year old mature project contributed to by many, which says a lot more. It has geared momentum, especially because of the Wordpress.com availability and some excellent tools like Akismet along with it.
