All the while when we were thinking that Microsoft was embracing open source, it was in fact counting the number of patents. Patents that, it thinks, are infringed by FOSS. Is it FUD? Linus thinks it is. Like Moglen says, maybe Microsoft will stick only to the threat. For demotivating the open source users and contributors? This might have worked some years back, today awareness about open source is stronger. If it is not this, I will keep wondering about the motivation behind this. Or is this frustration for not being able to leverage open source?
