Displaying WordPress 2.3 Tags

One of the big changes in WordPress 2.3 is inherent support for tagging. We have used the excellent Ultimate Tag Warrior (UTW) plugin till today, but tagging seems to have become popular enough for WordPress to support it. Correspondingly, the themes will now have to change to make the appropriate WordPress function call instead of the UTW call to display tags and tag clouds. Rich Gilchrest provides the details (via Matt). Also, the database design changes in 2.3 might break the plugins which make calls directly to the database. Ryan points to the 2.3 plugin compatibility list being developed by the community.

I’ve been using the tags of WP 2.3 and can be seen here at one of my Blog. I’ve also started tagging my Main Blog and is getting ready for a conversion.

That’s cool! I haven’t started making any preparations for the change, though it is inevitable.

If you want to use HTML you can use these tags: <a>, <em>, <strong>, <abbr>, <code>, <blockquote>. Closing the tags will be appreciated as this site uses valid XHTML.

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it.
