David Recordon liveblogs from Digital ID World to inform that Orange SA is providing OpenID to all its subscribers, about 40 million or so. We have seen AOL do the same thing. Mic
As Marshall Kirkpatrick says, this is a huge move for the federated identity movement. I am very much in the party, but I feel that the it is not being used as actively. While we are seeing a lot of service providers providing OpenID, there are still not many applications that support it, that is, use OpenID for identification. OpenID will work only if it is widely adopted by applications so that users can benefit from it. There have been some developments - Digg is planning to adopt it and Microsoft is helping OpenID work with information cards. However, the critical mass has still not reached, but hopefully news like this will help boost it.
