OpenID Gets Chairs From Big Players

OpenID is getting popular after all. Yahoo! already announced its support and now Microsoft, Google, IBM and VeriSign have lent their commitment too by joining the foundation. While such participation also raises doubts of vested interests of companies, the OpenID foundation has already made it clear that it will not dictate the way OpenID will evolve. I will look forward to more experiments with OpenID and its companion technologies like CardSpace or OAuth to demonstrate a complete solution to the developers. We already have efforts like DiSo, but these big players should push this to a much higher scale. Only then will benefits of OpenID reach the user.
