AOL Opens Mobile Platform

AOL too acknowledges that mobile is the new Web. AOL has announched the Open Mobile Platform (via Josh Catone). It is an open source mobile software platform using which developers can build applications for multiple operating systems. An attractive proposal, but I see that not many are excited about this. Is it because of inferior technology? I doubt. I think it is because a lot of interesting technologies by AOL tend to lose momentum and visibility.
