Molly Holzschlag has been known to hold a different view of standards in the community. She makes it clear in her interview. She says Web Standards are more of recommendations and specifications than enforced standards, and it is quite refreshing to read this amidst the continuous tussle between businesses, developers and people.
She continues to say that Web Standards is a goal. And somehow I feel it is incomplete. Web Standards exist to enable us to do what Web was set to do - to make content easily accessible and usable to people irrespective of their environments and to enable sharing information. From the people’s perspective, Web Standards is a means to achieve this goal.
