NanoGanesh – Called Jugaad In India, Innovation Elsewhere

I was quite impressed by NanoGanesh – a GSM mobile based remote control system for water pumps. But more so after I read how it came about. This is a classic example of jugaad, where you reuse existing resources in a new way instead of creating something new altogether. Though jugaad is associated with lack of resources a lot of times, I personally think it is one of the most efficient ways customizing things for a local need.

It will be interesting to see if these jugaads appeal to the Indian entrepreneurs. There will be unique challenges, but the best part is that they come with a ready-made market. And I personally think that a lot of solutions in India, especially for the rural areas, will be triggered by these jugaads.

Say your thought!
