Indian Defence To Have Its Own OS

DRDO, the organization working for building self-reliant systems for Indian defence, is planning to set up its own operating system. The article cites primary reason as security. I am glad. But I also read that the implementation was going to be based on the misconception that we get higher security through proprietary and closed systems. Hacking does not depend on source code being open. A lot of proprietary systems are cracked. But you can build in higher security and quicker response to security violations if you have freedom to access and customize the source code of tools and systems you use.

Say your thought!
