Open Source In My OS X Usage

I started using OS X for some development work, and began looking for the free country in Mac world. I was happy to see that Apple helps a Mac user discover open source applications. And of course there is MacPorts, which brings out the ancestor it shares with BSDs, FreeSMUG, MacLibre and Fink.

I ended up using open source applications that I thought behaved better than the native ones:

In spite of so many rich open source applications the Mac open source community seems to be constrained by Apple’s constraints. I cannot help but wonder if the open source spirit in Apple would be magnified had Steve Wozniak stayed longer.

Say your thought!
